What Makes Reykjavik Iceland The Best Stopover Location?
Reykjavík is the capital city of Iceland, which is located a mere 5 hours by air from New York City. Icelandair Airlines has a special program that allows its customers to book their international flights with a stopover in Reykjavik for up to seven days with no additional charges. I am on the way to Iceland to admire the beauty of Reykjavík Iceland.
After a successful take off from JFK Airport, I landed at Keflavik International Airport. Keflavik is outside the airport and is dark and cold. Vidar a tall and handsome tour guide who works for Icelandic Mountain Guides met me downstairs. Shortly I was zooming through the Icelandic countryside in a jeep.
On the way, Vidar told me about the Iceland Politics, Iceland Viking history, and the Iceland philosophy of Petta Reddast, which means “Don’t worry, it’ll be all right”. I hear this phrase numerous times on my journey, mostly in response to worried questions from me when we drove across rushing rivers or on slippery mountain roads.
After we left the adventurous lava fields of the Reykjanes Peninsula and entered the Thingvellir National park where the first Viking Parliament was held, I asked Vidar “where is the road” and he replied “Oh, it’s there somewhere”. At every turn the land appears to be bursting and shifting.
Iceland is the World’s largest green energy producer and because of this the country has more hot water. For instance, in winters the sidewalks of Reykjavik are heated, such that farmers can build their own mini power stations and it is possible to bake bread on the beach.
Our first stop was at Fontana geothermal baths, where I had a spa. We spent the rest of the day at the Golden circle tour. We then proceed to the famous Gullfoss waterfall. It was the first and the largest Waterfall beautiful Reykjavik iceland. We then moved to the Great Geyser. At Great Geyser, I saw hot boiling water coming out from a hole in the earth to 200 feet in the air. With such an unpredictable view, I was absolutely stunned.
After the Geyser, we headed over to an obscure corner of the Hvita River for a Riverjet ride. For the next 40 minutes, we were travelling at 100 miles per hour, aiming for walls and barely missing them. After a furious river ride, we proceed to our hotel where we had a delicious meal.
We then visited to Hverfisgata Street, where we had lots of fun. We also visited to the KiKi bar in the night where we found people well dressed up. This was the best experience in my life. After visiting many other tourist spots I say goodbye to Vidar. All the other members of the group were reunited at Hverfisgata 12, a restaurant. After an exciting visit to Iceland, we proceed to the airport and take a flight back to New York City. I landed at 7 pm and made a run for a train to Brooklyn.http://aartiinformatics.com/travel/reykjavik-iceland-attractions/http://aartiinformatics.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Gullfoss-waterfall.jpghttp://aartiinformatics.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Gullfoss-waterfall-300x300.jpgTRAVELbeautiful iceland, beautiful Reykjavik iceland, beauty of iceland, beauty of Reykjavík Iceland,Gullfoss waterfall, reykjavik iceland, reykjavik iceland attractionsReykjavík is the capital city of Iceland, which is located a mere 5 hours by air from New York City.
